All About Hajj and Umrah!
2 Oct 2007
I came a cross this footage on YouTube, and I wanted to share it with everyone. The big flood in Mina, in 2005, was caused by the excessive rain, and the fact that Mina is a valley surrounded by mountains. This was a great trial for those who made Hajj that year. Some people even lost their lives. We ask Allah to forgive their sins and to bless them with the highest level of Jannah.

I was there. The rain was crazy. Subhanallah!
It was the 12th so I think half of Mina had left (as they do) in an attempt to leave before maghrib. This was good since water started to stream into the tents (bear in mind of course there are mains supplies running down from the ceiling where people were charging their mobile phones etc).
The white umbrella I used started to function as prtoection against rain rather than sunshine.
The litle alleyways between the tents started to become mini-stream.
Anyway later on in the day (I think after maghrib, to aviod the crowds) I went down to do the stoning. The underpass tunnel was flooded, above head height, and some people were walking along the narrow brick wall to get it.
Considering the precariousness of the situation I thought doing that, (and falling off the wall), would be a crazy act.
Anyway it made hajj different that year, that is for sure.
