Profile: Director of Light of Islam Bookstore, is a New Jersey native who moved to Houston in December 2003. She has a master's degree in Journalism from Emerson College and has been a regular contributor to Azizah magazine. She moderates The Straight Path, a blog on the Houston Chronicle's web site, and is on the editorial staff of the Muslim Matters blog. She has served as chair of the Women's Committee of the Islamic Society of Greater Houston and as a member of the Zonal Council of the ISGH southeast zone. She has also served on the steering committee of the Interfaith Ministries of Greater Houston's Women's Gatherings. In 2004 she served as coordinator of the media committee of the Council on American-Islamic Relations/Houston chapter. She is VP, Public Relations of Toastmasters club 4908. Ruth is married with an adult daughter and two adult stepsons.
